ISSUED FOR PUBLIC WELFARE Mental Health - Tips for Being Emotionally and Mentally Healthy There are a lot of different thoughts on what it means to be healthy. The majority of people equate physical exercise with being healthy, and eating vegetables. When people talk about getting healthy as a New Year's resolution, they usually mean getting a gym membership. Mental health and emotional health quite often have more to do with your health than anything else. Most people look at life, that their health problems give them a reason to worry, rather than the worry could be the cause of their bad health. It is good to look for information that can help you become mentally or emotionally healthier, but don't forget that professionals in the mental health field could give you a lot of advice.

Sleep is important for good health, and getting enough is a must. To keep your body and mind healthy, most people believe that eight hours is the magic number. Some people need more like nine, while others do better on only six or seven. It might take some work to find your personal magic number, but through experimentation, and help from health professionals, it can be done. When you have it figured out, make sure you take the steps you need to take to ensure that you get that amount every night. Sleeping through the night and getting the right number of hours can change the way you feel emotionally and physically.

Get your eyes off of yourself, and do something nice to help someone else. When we feel down or depressed it can be difficult to find the energy to help ourselves. Doing something nice for someone you don't even know, will not only give you a good feeling, but also raise your energy level. The easiest way to improve your emotional health doesn't cost any money, for all you need is to be kind. Just by letting someone go ahead of you in line, with a good heart, will elevate your feelings, and if you don't think it will work, try to do something nice for someone.
